6 Things to do Before VYTT

1. Do your research. Find the studio, the teachers, and the styles that make sense to you. Explore your yoga community, branch out, and talk to others. Ask your teachers where they studied, ask yourself what you would like to accomplish. Listen to your body and discover if you are looking for heat, cardio, restoration, or basics. Try classes that make you feel comfortable and try classes that challenge you. Teacher Training is not only a time comitment, but a comitment for you heart, soul, and mind. 2. Let go of your ego. Do not judge yourself or compare yourself to others. Judgement of yourself only brings worry, fear, and resentment into your body which is poison to your body. Yoga is not a goal you will accomplish, but rather a way you live. Practice not to become perfect, but practice to become patient. Yoga teacher training is a great equalizer. 3. Your mind and your body are your mind and body alone. No one will react to training exactly the way you do. Thoughout your yoga training you will transcend. Maybe your diet will change, maybe energy level, maybe creativity, or maybe attitude. Whose to say how you should feel durring and after your training experience. Be authentic, genuine, and honest with yourself. 4. Practice. Practice. Practice. As mentioned before, do your research in studios, teachers, and classes. The more you establish what you are looking for the less lost you will feel during training. Yoga Teacher Training can be physically and mentally draining. Having a consistant yoga practice before you embark on a school will help prepare your mind and body for transformation. 5. Maxing your credit card at LuluLemon is fun, but not necessary. Trendy yoga clothes are not going to make you a good yogi. It's easy to become lost in the world of athletic apparel espically when there are yoga pants in every possible color and print with matching shoes and headbands, but his is all superficial. Come prepared with flexable and comfortable attire, be confident with your clothes, and be kind to your wallet. 6. Invest in yourself. You deserve to be happy. Invest time in yourself, invest love, invest attention, and invest compassion. Take care of yourself about anyone else. Be confinent in your mind, your thought, and your actions. Trust yourself and speak your truth. Take the time to invest in yourself. Get enough sleep, nutrition, play time, and leisure. Yoga teacher training is very exciting, active, and challenging. Before you invest in a school be sure to firstly invest in yourself.
